Well my self imposed absence from this idea also meant I missed out on the voting for the Google Project 10 to the 100. I resolved to myself that this idea wouldn’t make it into the final 100 because I knew that unless I could somehow bring some coherency to it then nobody would really be motivated to get involved. I was really impressed to see all the great ideas that were posted up onto YouTube also – a lot of people really put an immense amount of effort to try to bring these ideas into the light. Funnily the last time I looked at any comments written on my video presented I got ‘Wierd Wacko’!!! – Huh Thanks – Mildly embarrassed by this I decided I wouldn’t go forward with presenting the idea any more but work on it on my own, in my own time. My own personal weakness came into play I must admit and I almost resolved to bin the lot and hope everyone would forget about my strange ideas and the struggle to work them out. I was really only pulled back when I saw that the voting for Project 10 to the 100 had been completed!!! This stirred it all up again and I had to look to see what happened. However, what happened to my notification? Never mind, maybe I lost it in the post…

I am somewhat confused with what Google has done though – they seem to have take the best of the ideas and taken it all for themselves. Is this really what has happened?

I know it promised good Karma if nothing else to the 150,000 who worked on their best for changing the world for a better place, so maybe that is all they get, no more mention by Google, into the archives of history go all the ideas, if indeed they are accessible, most I know are now OWNED by the company.

I feel Google has made a serious mistake here, my own humble opinion it may be, but I feel strongly that this is exactly what will underpin their downfall.

They are a company – If you have read anything on here you will know my sentiment on that kind of identity – and they will protect their assets, for their own profits, whether public or private. It is this thinking, especially after reading through all the terms and conditions that made me pull BeyondOneWorld away from using any of Google’s Apps and pulling it into one place out of the way and try to maintain everything myself – hard work!.

The Internet is allowing a real paradigm shift in the way that people interact with the world around them, the company has no future in this shift and Google especially will weaken to the social networks developing apart from them.

Ignore the individual and you lose – the individual and their connections with each other and what they want are the most powerful kinetic driving forces of the Internet.

The rise of Twitter and Facebook allowing for these shared networks I feel will overtake the importance of just information delivery and will be the next step in evolution. Both these companies have scaled well, especially Facebook, with its ability to share applications among millions of users through an interface and a lot more progress will be seen here.

But the main block is still there – it is owned ‘by the few ‘and used by the many.

They hold all the information and media produced by individuals who only wish to share to each other as friends and neighbours. How can this be OWNED!!!

I did set up ADS0.com as a way of figuring out how to make the social network completely owned by the individuals that use it but there is so much work to do to get that under way that again, it has taken second place to the more immediate priorities of life. Also straight away there were attempts by quite a few to use it as a means of gaining Pagerank so I had to block (most of) them.

Somehow though, we do need to work this out. We need to share completely in the responsibility of how things will work. It needs to be totally transparent and everyone must have an equal voice in it. In essence the theme behind BeyondOneWorld – or whatever anyone wants to call it. It cannot be through some technocracy controlled by a limited set of our understanding of the world, but driven by the best of everything that we now, putting in place our most ideal aspirations as a means of directing our effort.

This whole process rises up through all our personal interactions with each other and becomes a whole means of government. I don’t want to use the word democracy any more as it still requires a center of power, all the power must be completely flattened and allow every person in the world decide on exactly what, how and why things should be done. I favour the term Omnicracy – and I should put together an article to describe the meaning – because every individual has an equal amount of power to make any change. The only way these changes can be agreed on will be through some kind of social network, allowing people to discuss, agree or disagree, collaborate or even play at any time they wish, for their own individual reasons.

The problem is … and always was … what to do next …

In essence, I feel that Project 10 to the 100 has failed the people who dedicated their time and their best ideas and the spotlight will be now on the entity Google to make the world a better place – on their own.

I have taken a little break from Beyond One World but it will not be for long. I realised after a year of writing here that actually not many people are visiting and when they do they probably have no idea of what it is about. It’s a shame, it’s no fun and I really should think about making the whole thing interesting. I mean I find it interesting, it’s become my passion, my obsession almost, because I absolutely believe that it is the right idea. But if I cannot find others with that same passion then this site is useless. So I need to stop being rubbish at marketing it and learn how to do it properly.

So I have entered the world of Internet marketing and I am actually thoroughly enjoying it. I always knew about it in theory but my experiences of years ago doing this are not really as good as putting it into practice. Let’s see how it goes…

So I have separated my personal Twitter account from BeyondOneWorld and created one exclusively for this at http://twitter.com/BeyondOneWorld. Follow this if you are interested in the progress here and do not want to hear my own ramblings at http://twitter.com/shawndm. Or perhaps vice versa. You are welcome at either.

Hospital staff at the A&E of Swindon’s Great Western Hospital face being fired for playing the ‘Lying Down Game’ on Facebook during a night shift. They added pictures of themselves lying down on the ward floor, resuscitation trollies and the helicopter pad which were then found by the hospital bosses. They have all been suspended and are awaiting disciplinary proceedings. Apparently they broke Health and Safety rules, the NHS Rules of Conduct and
it was deemed by the hospital bosses as totally unprofessional but at no time was patient care compromised.

The ‘Lying Down Game’ is where you get a picture taken of you lying face down in an unusual location with your arms by your side, palms facing inwards, toes pointing down as if you were standing – but horizontally. The game was started in the earliest days of Facebook and although of no use or sense to anybody has sparked the imagination and humour of around 56,000 people from all over the world.

Now what follows is my humble opinion on this.

In my efforts to build up Beyond One World to something meaningful I am often looking around to see where our highest ideals are defined and of course places where it just seems so have been obliterated from existence.

What on earth are we doing turning against the very people who spend their lives in the service of others. These health workers, some of them doctors are having to face on a daily basis the less glamorous side of our existence, when people are rushed in sometimes in a terrible condition and requiring immediately the care of someone who can help them. They face issues of death, issues of sometimes gross stupidity of the public and mostly those things that many of us cannot face. Must we forget that they are human? Do we want them to be robots devoid of feelings – even of care? These are people who are not paid excesses of money – unlike those higher up who we seem to want to bail out in times of trouble.

The management has suspended them?!! The ones who face the cutting edge day by day because they did something silly – something they and many others found humorous. Remember they were on a night shift – I am sure they weren’t doing this at a time when patients were needing their assistance.

To be suspended for taking harmless pictures??? OK, some rules were broken and they need to be dealt with in the usual way – Imagine we suspended every health worker every time they made some health and safety mistake.

It is a ridiculous situation brought about in an overly forceful way that need not ever to have happened. They had a sense of humour – something very human – I am personally glad they found some way of dealing with the stresses of their job in a harmless way.

I don’t know what my ramblings here can do to help them but say they should have public support – many others out there feel the same. In fact if anyone knows of any petition or other idea to help then please let me know – I will sign up to it.

Maybe those responsible should be forced to play the ‘lying down game’ in the disciplinary meeting and published on Facebook – OK, a bit extreme but I found it quite funny

A lot of my reading on this subject has steered across many conspiracy theories and it became very tiring, so much so that I haven’t bothered catching up with the World News in the forums. Also in the run up to September 11th there are many programs on the TV covering what happened that day and the after effects. My wife and I have felt quite heartbroken with the stories of the last calls made by loved ones that day and the suffering that surrounded this catastrophe. Well, I’m glad to say doing some research later I found this old YouTube video posted into the Zeitgeist Movement Forums – ironic in a way.

I hope you find it inspiring and uplifting. The secret is speaks of is in the core of any positive thinking book and teacher of motivation, like Tony Robbins and so on. In my own experience it is sometimes all you have left to tackle many of the issues that seem to come at you often all at once and if you forget to apply it then believe me, depression follows quickly.

I know it is a bit of a drama at the beginning of the video but bear with it, get the essence of what it is referring to – IMHO it is absolutely important to understand…

So for a bit of inspiration – Watch this!

So please – Have A Great Day!

Do something positive today that you wouldn’t normally do!

If you find any more videos like this then please let us know – either post them or let me know and I will add them.

Let me know if it makes any difference to your day

It is relevant here too because the ideas in this video and other media are SO important that I really want to make sure it makes it into the highest ideals of this project…

This is a massive conflict with me now.

I am watching the Addendum above after seeing the original and even though they are saying most of what I have suggested here, or even dreamed of, there is a real resistance internally to it and I do not understand why. It should be enough that there was some symbology and imagery that was important to me years ago – even for me to actually be convinced by the logic and arguments put forward.

This has halted my ability to move forward and any thoughts of what Beyond One World frozen until I find the answer – and believe me I would love to not be concerned with its development any more, knowing that these things were being taken care of elsewhere by people with more skills than I.

I keep asking myself also, Who am I to argue with this, no one as yet has subscribed to anything that I have suggested and the Zeitgeist Movement has around a third of a million in membership and is growing rapidly. As it contains much of what is within Beyond One World it has to be right – hasn’t it? But there is a real block that I must understand – I really feel that something is wrong…

With this I probably expose my stupidity, I don’t know and cannot even express or see it. Very humbling…

Found this on YouTube – a movie produced by the Zeitgeist Movement.

That is certainly the question now on my mind. I am amazed at all the people involved in it already. Anyhow I haven’t had time to look deeper into it yet and joined the forum as ‘BeyondOneWorld’ and introduced myself.

I am concerned at first look of the video however about the references it is based on. I do remember the ‘Book of the Dead’ stuff from years ago and the connection to the 10 Commandments is a bit loose – there were many many other lines not just (or all of) the 10? Anyway, that’s all from years ago when I was much much younger – Let’s see what happens here…

This is an idea that needs me to disown it – it is something that needs to be driven by others that collectively have better ideas, different perspectives, more knowledge or more skills than I could ever achieve. So the plan to have a social web here at Beyond One World I have thrown out and picked something more useful. For one ‘Beyond One World’ is a bit of a mouthful and a social web with that name would not be easy to type into the browser. The other reason is that it would need something special to be used by anyone, a good reason for them to choose it in the first place. Well, one of the principles in Beyond One World is that of ownership, not having any corporation or authority tell you how it should work or what information belongs to you. The social web should work exactly as the users desire and not have any corporate marketing directing it or adding advertising to its pages. So I have pulled in a domain name that is very short and implies this – ADSo.com.

I have put together a website on that domain that has an Open Source social web running on it. It may not look nice now but with membership and direction of how it should work to help us all collaborate together it will achieve exactly what we want it to.

I have placed the important stuff on the main page of ADSo and pasted it in here. Are you going to be first to join in?

ADS0.COM is owned by every member that joins – equally – and of course NO ADS.

The principles being worked out to make this a reality can be found at the Beyond One World Blog.

Absolutely everyone is welcome to join and take part to make this social network all that you would want it to be without any company or organisation behind it.

The aim is to gather together those interested in changing the world finally, to make it a better place, by allowing everyone in it to have an equal stake in it and removing any centralised power and sharing the work and responsibilities.

Even if that sounds a bit daunting to you right now – or you have no idea what this means, there is one ADVANTAGE to getting in and JOINING NOW. That is to stake your claim now and GET YOUR SHORT NAME REGISTERED now before someone else does.

The other advantage is that you get to say exactly how it should work. You are in control if you want to be…

Any problems with the site, then please let me know in http://forums.beyondoneworld.com.

My hope is that this will be the first step for people to see that we as a people realise that we are all essentially striving for the same things and can collaborate together to remove the problems that face us globally and individually.

Please spread the word – You may know others who may be interested in taking part in this experiment. The more we gather here the more we can develop and improve it and make it something special.

Of course it may not grow very fast, or in the beginning be disorganised, it might break or not be very pretty, or even worse for some unforeseen reason disappear completely – but I personally honestly believe with all my heart that it could be the beginning of the biggest collaborative event in history. Not built by an international organisation, secret or otherwise, or by a government agency or corporation – but by the individuals themselves, for themselves, for each other, for their children, to our highest principles and ultimately helping each other.

I believe part of the answer for many of word’s problems lies in secrecy – but I have never worked out to myself how much openness the world is comfortable with.

Sadly the power that is held by institute or person over another person is usually maintained and upheld by the secrecy of its information or action. There are a few stories today in The coming-out stories of anonymous bloggers that show in todays society how the freedom of speech and expression can have implications if you do it anonymously.

What if all speech was open and honest, would people be too frightened to speak up, or does the right to speak anonymously infringe upon other people’s rights.

When I speak of an open and transparent government in Beyond One World I am sure of it being absolute. There can be no more secrets, no more hidden agendas and operations by those in power. It has to be open to absolutely everyone – so that no corruption is possible. But I wonder how far can that go? An extreme point I know but imagine the ability of telepathy miraculously appearing in every person in the world so that even everyday thoughts were open. Would everyone suddenly go to war realising the true intents of others or would another level of understanding develop, in the causes of those thoughts.

I have been wading through news on the Internet in any subjects relating to World Governments – the list I found interesting I have put in the World Government News and Events folder of the forums – and the dismaying and mind numbing number of conspiracy theories makes this very hard going. What is the antidote to the ‘New World Order’? It is definitely openness, equality and collaboration by the majority – the essence of Beyond One World idea.

But how far should this openness go?

Brandon Griggs has posted a list of the 12 most annoying types of Facebookers at CNN. Red-faced I realise that recently I have slotted into one of the worst types of Facebook users you can have – Ouch! I have posted quite a few updates through Twitter and Facebook from my blog and so earn my shame as ‘The Self-Promoter’.

Well – Sorry guys…

I just think I have a fantastic idea to change the world for the better and so in my eagerness I used the social network as a means of telling someone, anyone … Why not my friends?
OK – So only one or two answered or took part but Hey! It’s August – Probably everyone is on holiday!? Right?

No matter, at least it is only one slot I fill
- I didn’t tell anyone on Facebook I had Coffee and Toast this morning did I.
Or invite anyone again to join in with BeyondOneWorld because I think it would be a good thing.
Or became a ‘Friend-Padder’ with hundreds and thousands of friends in my list – In fact I could only find 50 that would speak to me … and most of them probably only connected because they perhaps heard my name previously at some company they worked at and thought it polite to accept. So that fact alone should save me any more embarrassment of being duly multi-slotted in the Facebook hall of annoyances.

Take your pick – Do you slot into any of these annoying groups:

Let-Me-Tell-You-Every-Detail-of-My-Day

Self-Promoter

Friend-Padder

Town-Crier

TMIer (Too Much Information)

Bad Grammarian

Sympathy-Baiter

Lurker

Crank

Paparrazzo

Maddening Obscurist

Chronic Inviter

Can you think of any more?

Oh Well! I may as well add another slot for myself – the ‘Chronic Inviter’ – If anyone wants to be my friend I am on Facebook and Twitter at http://www.facebook.com/shawnd and http://twitter.com/shawndm .

Seriously though, it is an interesting article and does really show the current social needs of a large proportion of people that use Facebook and other networks. I think social networks will grow in function in the future to not just be a communication toy, but quickly to be a fully fledge collaboration tool, connecting people with their needs to those that can fulfil them.

The information that is growing exponentially on the media in these networks, day by day, shows more and more of the character, background and history of every individual that uses them. Including of course individuals that were unfortunate to be unwitting participants, possibly expressing some confused reaction to an event that did not immediately make sense but a later showing on YouTube revealed all. Unfortunately this can be a source of lifelong embarrassment to someone, whose antics, though funny at the time, could remain on display forever online when the funny side may not be so apparent – or even understood. Maybe later historians will gain a true reflection of our time from analysing this media, after wading through a copy of the internet archived and getting past all the spam posts and time-consuming porn to find this very event, in its permanence, a symbolic picture of life in these early days. I wonder if they will see this as an important point in our history – where we became ‘causally’ self aware, that with every connected upload and post, it eventually sunk into the conscience of the people that actually none of it was ever going to go away. Later generations maybe a bit more careful knowing this. Also they will live with the fact that everyone they ever met can never be forgotten – no matter how hard they try.

Other ways that these social networks may grow, in sharing, connecting and collaboration:

Imagine, with all your previous working connections and associations finding your next employment through these social networks – or indeed your employer finding you. Instead of course the current and often forwarded posts showing someone losing their job by calling their boss a ‘perve’ on Facebook. Could this be the death of the Curriculum Vitae in return for automatically up to date information available at any time?

I suspect people will find their soul mates through them, enabling them to know a person in unheard of before detail before even meeting them. Conversely of course it is possible for an unfortunate photo or comment on these networks to do quite the opposite too. Interestingly I wonder if a YouTube video or Facebook comment has been produced in any court as evidence.

I imagine too that social networks will tend to be more ubiquitous, reaching out into other web services and devices and becoming the glue that connects them together. I wonder for example for the very reason of connecting people if there will be an iPhone app that will connect through Bluetooth two people in close proximity that could be friends, friends of friends, or even in the same group on the network. Possibly alerting you at a conference, a night-out or even on holiday of someone you may wish to talk to. It might be useful even the other way round, by one click, adding the person you just spoke to your network of friends, colleagues, discussion group etc to your social network so that you may follow them up later to continue your talk. (Actually, wouldn’t this be great if you could also avoid someone or a certain group of people? ) Maybe the wireless, GPRS or mobile network layer could increase this range to give more uses? If the social network reaches towards being ubiquitous then businesses that take the heavy hand on blocking these networks from the world of work will certainly struggle to stop this flow of connectivity – it may actually cost more in effort to stop than to allow it to become part of their processes.

I predict that for our ‘identity crisis’ roles I can see more development in defining who we are and who we are relating too. There is often the need to hold different identities on the Internet to connect with different services having distinct relationships to you that you will not want to mix up. Each of us has one identity but different roles in our lives and this will be reflected more in the social networks. For example you may not really think it necessary that your relatives hear your deeply thought on comments on the latest widget servicing process, but to other possibly self-centred careerists this may be great stuff to listen to. Alternatively, you may want to filter (or expand to channels) thoughts and media you are open to. Certainly an area open to advertisement here, maybe we will see the death of spam, connecting only people that may want to listen. Also as more networks appear and share more different kinds of media I wonder if they will tend more toward the peer-to-peer model of communication.

I know that for the project here at BeyondOneWorld the social network will be the key to full collaboration on anything developed here. In fact a social network already exists here at http://social.beyondoneworld.com/ so if anyone wants to get in first then at the moment just one more person will double its membership. You might ask why bother creating another one? Well this one will be owned by its users and not a company – the model of the Open Company Specification detailed here could be shaped up quite nicely with the experience of how this experiment develops. So if you want a social network that although at this moment in time is ‘unfashionably devoid of users’ but fresh and open to your direction as to how it works then get in now – we’ll figure out what its rules are as we go on. It does have the advantage of never having any company behind it shoving flagrant ads all over the pages – that would never happen unless every user of it agreed to it.

I’ve rambled on again – this was meant to be a short post because I found a list of the 12 most annoying types of Facebookers interesting… instead I have added another few kilobytes to history.
